Calista Yang Huiru

Diploma in Fine Arts

Calista explores multimedia within paintings, seeking new presentation of traditional artistic methods.

After being introduced to video art during her Diploma in Fine Arts studies at LASALLE, she developed an interest in incorporating music and audio dialogue into her art, expanding her experience with mixed media.

Utilising surrealism to bring her imagination to life, Calista's work touches on issues regarding mental health and the stigma surrounding the LGBTQ community. Calista uses metaphorical objects like glass to represent fragility and earthy colours to ground the audience while exploring subjects related to the themes of being lost, interactions, negotations and acceptance.
