XUE (Chew Xue Lin Sherylene)

XUE is a proxy for Singaporean artist and butoh dancer Sher Chew. The alias functions as a vessel interface for traversing disciplines and philosophical trajectories.

XUE’s use of bodies as a type of imaging device allows them to extend themselves into a liberative tool for carrying and transmuting subjective intensities within op-sign and sonsign1 encounters. Their multifarious practice grapples with the politics of space/place and embodied memory through performative/cinematic interventions in the form of ritualistic assemblages.
