Riya Shaqil Bin Rizal
Riya is an all-rounder musician who plays several instruments including drums, guitar, bass and vocals. He has a strong passion for the extreme genre of metal and punk rock, though he continues to play other genres.
He also has a passion for producing music and being a guitar luthier. In the metal and punk scene, he goes by the moniker Death in October, under which he writes and produces his own songs, plays in bands and plays shows with his own resources. He aims to convey energy and make emotional connections with his audience and listeners through his music.
Work
Riya has been gigging as a drummer and stage hand at multiple bistros in Singapore such as Warehouse at Clarke Quay, RedDot at Dempsey Hill, Union Square at Havelock2 and Stage at Prinsep. In 2017, he participated as a drummer in the ITE Central Musical. He also played in a rock and metal trio with his brother and father at the Esplanade Concourse in 2019.
He is also active in underground metal and punk shows and has played for bands like In Space, The CB Dogs, Blind Faith, When Heavens Collide, OSR313, Scream the Silence and many more.
