The consumption and reception of Hallyu worldwide
Hallyu, also known as the Korean Wave, can be defined as an increase in global interest in South Korea and its popular culture. First driven by the spread of South Korea pop music and drama series across Asia, Hallyu's impact is reflected in the international success of South Korea in all areas of its culture, such as music, television, film, fashion and food. This study will touch on the impact of globalisation, which is when goods and services, or social and cultures from different geological areas, slowly become similar in different parts of the world and apply this to how Hallyu has spread to other parts of the world such as the United States, Southeast Asia and China. It will also address how South Korea has used Hallyu as means for soft power.
