Adopting immersive exhibition making
This dissertation explores the relationship between immersive exhibitions and visitor experience. It examines research from visitor studies experts, emphasising the importance of understanding the relationship between exhibitions and visitors, and the role of cognitive psychology in exhibition design.
Immersive exhibitions incorporate emerging technologies such as virtual reality and mixed reality, transforming the traditional museum experience through a more interactive and humanistic approach. Curators must understand visitors' cognitive psychology to create educational and memorable exhibits. The dissertation provides examples of how theoretical concepts can be applied to different exhibitions and suggests questions for further research. Its aim is to guide exhibition-makers in designing immersive exhibitions that offer meaningful experiences and communicate educational concepts effectively.
