Raising children’s voices: Exploring three organisations that advocate for the lives of children and youths in Singapore through art experiences
Artists, practitioners and policymakers alike agree that art can be a powerful tool in impacting the lives of individuals and their communities. This research paper aims to investigate three local arts organisations whose primary work lies in advocating for the lives of children and youth in Singapore. In this paper, the diverse ways that art experiences are presented will be explored, as well as the role of artists in the organisation. In order to view these children and youth in their broader social contexts, a focus on community will also be highlighted. What are the collaborations and relationships that are crucial to these organisations? How do they foster these partnerships? These issues will be investigated through research interviews conducted with the leaders from each organisation, as well as a qualitative analysis of media articles and documents published. In conducting this research, the best practices of each organisation can be highlighted.
