Role of independent record labels in promoting Singaporean music

This research paper examines the role of independent record labels in promoting Singaporean music. Despite the rapid growth of Singapore's music industry, little attention has been paid to the role of independent record labels in supporting and developing local talent. Through qualitative interviews with independent record label owners and Singaporean musicians, as well as studying independent record labels elsewhere in the world that have achieved success, this paper explores the ways in which independent labels have been instrumental in promoting and distributing Singaporean music both locally and internationally.

The findings suggest that independent record labels play a critical role in providing a platform for emerging artists to showcase their work and connect with audiences, as well as in shaping the sound and identity of Singaporean music. This paper argues that continued support for independent record labels is necessary for the growth and sustainability of Singapore's music industry.
