Yaumakchoi (Thng Shalyn)

Yaumakchoi is an emerging artist and educator. Inspired by overlooked narratives of women within her lineage, she challenges patriarchal structures in traditional Chinese society. Yaumakchoi invites viewers to reimagine lineage as a diverse tapestry of collective memory.

Yaumakchoi has exhibited at The Grad Expectation (2016) and Imago Mundi – Beyond Contemporary Artists from Singapore (2015). She holds diplomas in Art Teaching and Education (Arts) from NAFA and NIE respectively, and is a recipient of the MOE Teaching Award.
