Tom is a commercial dance choreographer and educator based in Tel Aviv, Israel. He has performed and choreographed in projects including Dancing with the Stars, West Side Story and Guys and Dolls.

Since 2020, Tom has been educating professional dancers in commercial dance techniques including: jazz, hip hop, pop, and on-camera dance. Following his graduation from the MA Arts Pedagogy and Practice programme at LASALLE, Tom hopes to begin teaching his commercial dance curriculum at colleges and universities worldwide.

Teaching philosophy and research interests

Through a semester-long commercial dance course, rooted in technical jazz dance training, branding and marketing exercises, as well as industry-based knowledge, how has the student's perspective of their own self evolved in the following pillars of education:

Los Cuatro Pilares de Danza: Shaping dancer identities in Singapore through technical training, artistic development and industry experience

This thesis is the outcome of a very personal and difficult academic journey. As a dancer, teacher and researcher, I have always been fascinated by the intersection of artistic endeavors and educational theory.

The research presented here reflects my ongoing commitment to developing a more comprehensive and up-to-date model of commercial dance education, one that prepares dancers for long-term employment in a rapidly evolving global industry. Years of navigating the professional dance scenes in vibrant arts metropolises like New York, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Tel Aviv and Singapore gave me the idea for this project.
