Chao Yibo

MA Fine Arts
2019 — 2020

Chao Yibo (Uri) is a graphic designer and visual artist who started his MA journey after graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Design Communication in 2018. From his perspective, there is no clear boundary between design and art, just like how he believes there is no such thing as different creativity but creativity in difference. The difference defines how creativity is applied and where its motivation came from. Compared to client oriented design production, art practices provide him with freedom and a chance to make his own voice.

Uri takes the mode of public housing as an entry point, exploring and materialising constructs of rhythmic ornaments between people and architecture under the sociocultural context of Singapore.
