India to Singapore – A Rebel’s Journey is a three-part novel that traces the life of a young girl, Rachel, born into a conservative Christian family in rural Kerala, India. The first part of the novel is set in the early 1950s in India, which is awash with social and political change following independence from British rule. Rachel struggles against age-old prejudices against women and the traditional roles ascribed to women in rural Kerala.
