About
Ngiam is a Taiwanese-born composer, musician and conductor specialising in game music, film scoring, contemporary composition and performance. Since releasing his first album in 2017, he has collaborated with independent game developers and filmmakers across multiple projects.
Originally self-taught, his early musical experience included choir assemblies, violin and harmonica lessons and a brief study of festive drums before he turned to the piano in 2016, laying the foundation for a multidisciplinary approach grounded in independent study and artistic curiosity.
He composed the original score for the 2026 remake of the short film Mother's Recipe (2023), working directly with award-winning director Izumo Kawabe. Ngiam’s portfolio also includes original soundtracks for independent games, one of which placed first at a 2023 game jam. He has learned to work under demanding time constraints and developed a flexible and responsive workflow through regular participation in game jams.
Beyond music, Ngiam extends his creative practice into game design, filmmaking and visual art, contributing to the direction and production of select projects. His works are often narrative-driven and occasionally incorporate elements of surreal abstraction, exploring atmosphere, symbolism and emotional resonances.
Through his craft, Ngiam hopes to create pieces that carry emotional depth and leave lasting memories.
Outside of his musical pursuits, he studies etymology and tends to flowers that inspire him.
