Joseph Yong

Joseph found the courage to pursue his passion for music and enrolled in the Diploma of Music programme at LASALLE College of the Arts, which has since become his favourite institution. His experience at LASALLE has reignited a spark in his ever-growing love for the art form.

Joseph began his journey of learning to play the piano around the age of five and holds ABRSM certifications in Grade 5 Music Theory and Grade 8 Piano. He now majors in the classical genre of the instrument. Currently, his repertoire comprises, but is not limited to, works of Chopin, Beethoven and Schubert, with Chopin being the composer from whom he has learned the most pieces from in recent years. His favourite compositions include Chopin's Ballade No. 1, Schubert's 3 Klavierstücke D. 946 and Brahms' Intermezzo in A Major, Op. 118 No. 2. Joseph aims to put his heart into playing the music he loves, no matter during practice or performance.

However, music is not his only profession and passion. He has been interested in photography since the age of 16 and believes that it is a way for him to appreciate what life is all about, even its smallest moments and details. As an automative enthusiast, cars make up a significant part of Joseph's life but he has guided himself over the years to expand into other fields such as portraits and nature photography.

Through music and photography, Joseph has found what brings the most colour to his life.
