About

Stephen is a versatile jazz pianist, well-versed in music genres ranging from classical to R&B, soul, blues, jazz, swing, bebop, neo-soul, funk, fusion and pop. He is also a composer, educator and music arranger/producer. With many years of experience working with various bands and performing at different gigs, he is no stranger to Singapore's pop music scene.

 

Stephen is graduating with a BA (Hons) in Music, specialising in jazz performance, from LASALLE College of the Arts, where he is gaining extensive knowledge and technical skills to be a skilled improviser and composer. Since earning his Diploma in Music (Piano Performance) from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2017, Stephen has established himself as a versatile musician capable of teaching, performing, composing and arranging.

 

He has taught at several music schools and centres such as Radin Mas Community Centre, Magic Fiddler, Faith Music Centre, WE Music and Art Studio. His students range from children as young as four to adult learners, with classes conducted individually or in groups. Stephen also served as an adjunct music lecturer at Singapore Raffles Music College (SRMC) where he taught contemporary piano principal study and music technology modules.

 

As a music arranger and producer, Stephen has collaborated with multiple clients on music composition, arrangement and production. In 2016, one of his works earned him the first prize at the 22nd Music Express Songwriting Competition and he scored music for the short film Neighbours, organised by Cine65.
