About

Casimia is a Singapore-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores themes of emotional fragility, memory and vulnerability.

Working primarily with traditional mediums such as painting, drawing and mixed media, her work investigates how emotions and memories can be visualised through layered and delicate materials.

Transparency and fragmentation play an important role in Casimia's practice, reflecting the shifting and unstable nature of emotional experience. Alongside these themes, Casimia maintains an open and exploratory approach to making, working across different styles, mediums and subjects as a way to continuously expand and evolve her artistic practice.

Held Within Silence

This work explores hurt and betrayal in relationships, focusing on the experience of being unseen, abandoned and emotionally broken. It reflects the loss of self and stability that occurs when trust is damaged, revealing a deep sense of vulnerability and fragility.

The body of charcoal and graphite drawings is based on the human figure, depicted from the back to evoke a sense of exposure and emotional vulnerability. The drawings are then documented, photographed and printed onto translucent fabric. The layering reflects fragility and hidden pain, while also showing that emotions exist in complex, overlapping layers rather than a single feeling.

The work invites reflection on emotions that are often difficult to articulate or express, and the quiet struggles we all keep hidden beneath our outward appearance.
