Lin Jiaying
About
Jiaying is a Fujian-born artist currently based in Singapore. She will graduate with a Diploma in Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts.
Having developed a strong interest in visual art as a way of expressing personal feelings, inner reflections and psychological experiences, her practice centres on the relationship between emotions and the natural world.
Through painting and mixed media, Jiaying explores her interest in the human mind, transforming subtle inner states into a visual language that incorporates careful observation. Her artistic practice has also expanded to paper cut, simple sculptural experiments, as well as other material-based approaches.
In 2025, she co-organised a small exhibition titled Chasing Shadow, which explored the theme of ego.
Cat Story
Cat Story explores memory, loss and emotional connection through mixed media to establish a dialogue between memory and reality.
Images of cats are printed on fabric, then cut and sewn onto a background of brightly coloured patterned fabric to convey a sense of alienation. The use of fabric is closely related to home spaces and daily life, while the printed images are derived from personal video recordings.
Through these artworks, personal memory is reconstructed into a visual form that is intimate but also slightly fragmented.
