Chyanne Goh Hui Lin
About
Chyanne's works revolve around self- identity and the concept of irony.
Using mediums such as oil paints and collage, she employs rough techniques such as layering before scratching it off to reveal the layers beneath. "Less is More” is a phrase that is constant throughout her work process.
For someone who used to favour completionism, with the fear of “empty” spaces, Chyanne has learnt to embrace the negative spaces and incompleteness. She has learnt that sometimes to progress in her artworks, subtracting rather than adding leads to completion.
Ouroboros
A series of self-portraits, inspired by the artist's experience with obsessive-compulsive disorder.
A compulsion is constant, and each day, the experience will be different depending on your state of mind or emotions. So while the compulsion remains constant—the result is never the same.
