About

Piya Sawhney is a communication designer who has worked in UI/UX, publication, graphic design and typography. Through these disciplines, she translates complex functional needs into accessible, user-focused forms. Drawing from her roots in traditional painting, she uses tools like Figma and Adobe InDesign to create work that is both practical and evocative.

Her work often centers on lifestyle systems and healthcare innovation, exploring how contemporary graphics and clean, hand-drawn motifs can simplify daily living. From speculative digital healthcare interfaces to traditional type and layout, Piya’s practice is driven by a commitment to clarity, user autonomy and the belief that design should fundamentally enhance the human experience. She aims to provide fresh perspectives on the everyday through intentional and strategic visual communication.

Nischint: A Gluten Free Care Suite for the Indian Consumer

Image

Core Features of the app GIF

Nischint, derived from the Hindi term for "carefree”, is a gluten-free care suite designed for Indian consumers navigating celiac disease and gluten allergies. This intervention addresses critical barriers, including restricted food accessibility, social exclusion, and the complexities of dining out. By integrating a mobile application, educational website, and meal management calendar, the project re-frames medical necessity through a culturally resonant lens. The system ensures user-focused and worry free gluten-free living through four specialised tools: a product scanner, restaurant map, recipe archive, and community forum.

H&S: A Gen Z rebrand of Head & Shoulders

Looking at their target audience’s appeal towards care kits and routines, the team created a minimal sub-brand, H&S. This included a redesigned logo, line of products and a TikTok video.

Collaborators: Marie Dominique Clavecillas and Cheng Cheu Yean.
