Medhavi Nanda

About

Medhavi is a budding communication designer.

As a child, she saw the world through patterns, colours and stories, and was constantly sketching, rearranging and questioning how things could look and feel better. That curiosity led her to design, not just as a visual tool, but as a way to create experiences that connect and resonate.

For Medhavi, design is how she connects with the world and expresses herself. As a multidisciplinary creative, she enjoys connecting thoughtful research with purposeful designs.

Deeply curious by nature, Medhavi is always dipping her toes into new disciplines, including brand development, advertising, video production and editing, UI/UX, editorial designs and illustrating. Whether it is strategy and storytelling or technology and experimentation—she likes to embrace a jack-of-all-trades mindset that allows her to approach problems from multiple perspectives.

The Sacred Third: Fractured Stories of Identity

Image

The short documentary film brings together conversations, environments and everyday moments of survival of transgender women living in Bengaluru, India, including the different livelihood practices followed by them.

It captures this group of people within the spaces they move through, including work sites and homes, focusing on how they interact and carry out their routines in public spaces.

The Sacred Third examines how work, stigma and cultural representation shape the lives of transgender women in Bengaluru, India, using re-storytelling to foreground dignity, struggle and memory beyond tokenistic narratives.

Grounded in everyday life, it draws from labour and cultural practices such as traffic signal collection and ritual blessings, alongside structural barriers to employment.

Through semi-structured interviews and visual documentation of workplaces and shared living spaces, it reflects how identity is lived and negotiated, and how communities build their own systems of support and belonging in the absence of formal opportunities and social acceptance.
