Carapace Jacket: Redesigning motorcycle apparel for daily commute

Carapace Jacket is a motorcycle jacket designed for daily commuting in tropical climates. It comes in three colours: Black, Darke Sage and Pale Ash.

The jacket design consists of two jackets in one: a hard shell with mesh fabric and structured armour protectors, as well as a waterproof shell to be worn over it for weather protection. This design allows riders to adapt to different commuting conditions, whether they need breathability during hot weather or protection from the rain.

The armour protectors are inspired by the structure of a turtle's shell and the bistable auxetic structure. They are placed around key body impact areas to provide protection while maintaining flexibility and mobility.

A matching pair of pants with protectors can be purchased separately, which allows riders to complete the system based on their riding needs.
