About

Ziyan is graduating with a Diploma in Creative Direction for Fashion from LASALLE College of the Arts.

Interested in building visual narratives through fashion imagery, Ziyan's creative practice focuses on photography and styling.

Her approach to image-making is intuitive, starting first with visualising a scene and observing details which create an emotional response within her. Remaining connected to this initial emotional response, she then develops these ideas further through image-making, exploring how visuals can communicate mood, identity and personal expression.

OWN ORBIT

This work explores identity through a collage-based visual approach, combining photography and styling to construct layered visual narratives. It looks at how identity can be understood not as something fixed, but as something that shifts depending on context, environment and visual expression.

OWN ORBIT presents identity as fluid and evolving, expressed through three independent characters—Luna, Penny and Mengyao—who are each shown in different environments, styling, poses and emotional tones. Instead of connecting them through a single storyline, each character exists within their own visual narrative, reflecting different states of self exploration and expression.

Images were shot at Lakeside and the Botanic Gardens, with the natural settings creating a sense of distance from the city, highlighting a departure from everyday urban life, as well as a shift into a more personal, introspective space.
