Aiden Setiadi
About
Aiden is a Singapore-based artist working across interdisciplinary approaches spanning both traditional and digital media. His practice interprets and grapples with urbanisation and digital culture, examining how rapid technological and environmental shifts shape our social and natural landscape.
Through the exploration of evocative colour palettes, contrast, narratives and symbolism, Aiden's works offer an insight into everyday contemporary life in the context of a digital age, and reflect his personal interests in technological and urban growth as well as his tendency to look towards the future.
Aiden's practice invites audiences to consider new perspectives and view our environment through a different lens.
Digital Doppelgänger
Digital Doppelgänger is a series of paintings which investigate how we divide our time and navigate physical and digital spaces, as well as how these spaces intersect, merge and differ, and the extent of our control in this process.
The artist explores how two-dimensional flatness, as well as the weight and physicality of paint, relate to computer-generated 3D graphics of our world, a digital doppelgänger. This piece describes the reverse translation of these virtual spaces, progressing and regressing from digital to physical.
