Born and raised in Seoul, Suyong has always had a deep passion for fashion and a strong appreciation for personal style. She enjoys expressing herself through clothing and finding inspiration in everyday life, from people on the streets to the atmosphere of the city.
She is particularly interested in how fashion reflects individuality while also connecting people within a shared culture.
She is creative, pays attention to detail, and has the ability to translate ideas into visual outcomes. She works well both independently and collaboratively, and is always open to learning from new environments and experiences. While exploring her own perspectives, she stays curious about current trends, creating work that is personal yet socially relevant.

PATCHED SEOUL (Overcrowding of Seoul)
This moodboard explores the dense urban environment of Seoul, where overcrowding and uniformity gradually blur individual identity. It explores the tension between being part of a collective system and the desire to maintain a sense of self.
PATCHED SEOUL is themed on the overcrowding of Seoul. Living in the city, Suyong found it interesting how people tended to suppress their individuality and personal identity in order to survive their fast-paced and highly structured environment.
With nearly half of Korea’s population concentrated in Seoul and its surrounding areas, the city has developed into a crowded and visually repetitive space. Residential environments grow uniform, and the differences between individuals gradually become less visible.
Despite these conditions, many continue to move to Seoul to pursue opportunities and aspirations.
Suyong translated these observations into textiles, using logo appliqués to give voice to the inner thoughts and emotions of individuals navigating busy, repetitive daily lives.

Suyong's textiles incorporate slogan-style elements to reflect the realities people experience in dense urban environments. The chunky, tight text acts as a visual expression of collective thought and emotion, highlighting tensions in overcrowding and conformity against the battle against the loss of individuality.

Inspired by Seoul’s dense residential landscape, this textile uses reverse appliqué and beading to capture the city’s nightscape, emphasised with faux-crystal embellishments on a pink base.
