About
Jacinda is a design-driven individual with a sharp eye for detail and a strong passion for creating meaningful, thoughtful spaces.
Her approach to design balances creativity with practicality, allowing her to explore bold and unconventional ideas while still respecting the project brief and client needs. She believes that great design is not only visually compelling but also functional, inclusive and purposeful.
Jacinda thrives in both independent and collaborative environments. When working alone, she enjoys diving deeply into research, planning and problem-solving. In team settings, she communicates ideas clearly, listens actively and contributes positively to ensure projects move forward smoothly from concept to completion. Supporting project execution across different stages has strengthened her ability to stay organised, adaptable and solution-oriented.
With a versatile design style, Jacinda is confident about proposing daring, out-of-the-box concepts that help spaces stand out and feel unique. At the same time, she understands the importance of being conservative and precise when required, ensuring designs remain practical, feasible and aligned with client expectations. This balance allows me to approach each project with flexibility and sensitivity.
Jacinda is eager to continue growing her skills in space planning, technical documentation and client collaboration. She is particularly motivated to learn from real-world challenges and contribute meaningfully to projects that push her to improve and evolve. Ultimately, she seeks opportunities that will challenge her, expand her capabilities and allow her to reach her fullest potential as a designer.
LAYERS of BELONGING is a rejuvenation proposal for Bedok Community Centre, primarily used as a thoroughfare rather than a destination. The project seeks to transform the centre into a vibrant social hub that encourages residents to pause, participate and connect.
The design increases visibility and accessibility for both existing and new programmes, allowing everyday passers-by to naturally discover activities and feel invited to take part. By activating circulation spaces and turning movement into moments of encounter, the community centre becomes a place people choose to stay, not just pass through.
Triangles form the core spatial language of the project. Each edge represents a different generation, symbolising the coming together of diverse age groups within one shared civic space. Reflective surfaces are integrated throughout the design to multiply perspectives and interactions, allowing residents to see themselves alongside others and reinforcing a collective sense of identity and belonging.
This project comprises an indoor seating area, rooftop seating area, movie screening zone, informal work area, mobile clinic, cooking classes, dance studio and children's playground. Different colours demarcate different zones.
