Kaelyn Quek
About
Kaelyn is a Singapore-based artist whose practice explores self-identity through the use of floral forms. Growing up surrounded by nature, she developed a strong connection to flowers, which continue to shape her visual language today. Her art practice mainly revolves around sculpture and painting.
Kaelyn approaches her work through observation and experimentation, often working with organic forms to create pieces that feel both structured and natural. Her artworks serve as a visual record of her personal growth, capturing moments of change and self-discovery over time. Instead of using flowers for their common meanings, she uses them as a tool to explore and understand herself.
During her time at LASALLE, Kaelyn exhibited in the group exhibition In the Starlit Woods (2025) featuring her work Memories to Life at the Praxis Space, which delves deeply into her childhood memories.
This Version of Me
The work explores flowers as a reflection of the artist.
Growing up surrounded by nature, the artist has always been drawn to the shapes, colours and meanings of flowers. She expresses her personal perspective and emotional connection to them through her work, challenging how they are typically viewed.
Using mixed media such as watercolour, acrylic and charcoal on materials like canvas, wood and paper, the artist creates a moodboard-like composition that immerses viewers in her world. This project invites others to see flowers not just as decorative objects, but as representations of identity and experience.
