Karin Beknazar
About
Karin Beknazar is a Singapore based designer from Kazakhstan with a background in STEM, bringing a structured, systems-driven approach to design.
He views design as a problem-solving tool balancing user needs with clear, functional outcomes. His focus is in UX/UI, where he translates complex ideas into intuitive, user-centred interfaces, allowing room for layered ideas and communication. He works primarily with Figma, building clean, minimal systems that prioritise clarity, usability and purpose over decoration.
Karin’s work explores the tension between structure and expression. While grounded in a restrained, minimal visual language, his approach allows for conceptual depth and unexpected moments within controlled systems. Minimalism in his work is not reduction for its own sake, but a deliberate framework for clarity, focus and layered meaning.
Shanyraq is a cultural brand that elevates Kazakh heritage by reinterpreting Oyu, traditional Kazakh ornamentation, for the modern world.
Beginning with the Shanyraq App, the project creates a digital archive where users can freely download, modify and incorporate Oyu elements into their own creative works. Supported by a social platform, users’ works are curated, categorised and showcased to encourage participation and cultural exchange.
As its first campaign, Shanyraq presents the Oyu exhibition, featuring contemporary interpretations of Oyu and marking the foundation of a growing creative community rooted in Kazakh identity.
Finding a compatible roommate in Singapore can be a challenging and time-consuming process, especially for the younger generation.
This project aims to design a mobile product experience that appeals to younger generations by providing a secure, user-friendly platform to connect people seeking roommates with those offering shared apartments.
Unlike traditional rental apps, the platform emphasises personality and compatibility. Customisable profiles allow users to express their lifestyles, values and preferences transforming roommate search into a more human, relatable process.
Because the best roommate is not just available, it is someone you connect with.
Baybeats is an annual alternative rock festival, with each edition adopting a distinct visual identity.
In this new vision, the festival embraces the diversity within alternative rock by giving each subgenre its own unique visual language. Rather than presenting a single unified design, the poster becomes modular and interactive
Audiences are invited to rip' n tear sections of the poster to reveal different genres, then mix' n match them to create their own personalised composition. This approach reflects the fluid and hybrid nature of alternative music, where listeners often engage with multiple genres rather than a single category
