About

Khine Zin Htun is a spatial designer who strongly believes that every design should serve a clear purpose while responding to real human needs.

Focusing on shaping spatial experiences that influence how people feel within an environment, she is drawn to the subtle, often unseen emotional qualities of space, where material, proportion and atmosphere work together to create meaning.

Rather than focusing only on how a space looks, she is interested in how it feels, and how design can create emotional connection through everyday experience.

She aims to create spaces that leave an impression and remain with people even after they leave.

The Living Vein

This project addresses the declining visibility of bamboo craftsmanship in Singapore and its growing disconnect with younger generations.

It proposes a space that brings this traditional craft back into everyday life, encouraging not only appreciation but active participation. Centred on bamboo as a material rich in skill, knowledge and cultural legacy, the project highlights its versatility beyond lantern-making, supporting diverse craft practices and future evolution.

The design reinterprets bamboo construction through bent, linear wooden strips arranged around a central core, reflecting its flexibility and rhythm. This creates a communal setting for sharing, learning and preserving craftsmanship, fostering intergenerational connections and ensuring the continuity of this cultural tradition.
