Frame & Skin
This project reinterprets the traditional Chinese paper craft zhizha in Jalan Besar through a spatial experience of light, shadow and memory.
A central void draws in natural light, shifting throughout the day to cast moving paper-like shadows, transforming associations of burning and ash into reflection and transformation.
Positioned in a neighbourhood facing cultural loss, the design functions as a cultural incubator that revives the craft, reduces stigma and encourages community engagement and exploration.
