ORO is a fashion publication targeted at fashion audiences in Singapore that positions older individuals within contemporary fashion, challenging the perception that fashion relevance declines with age through contemporary styling and image-making.
This project serves as a response to the lack of representation of the older bodies in fashion and media, where visibility is overwhelmingly reserved for the young. By placing older individuals as the primary subjects of the publication, the project challenges narrow ideals perpetuated by media representation that reinforces ageism, offering a more inclusive vision of fashion.
ORO contributes to discussions around representation, identity and media influence by expanding the boundaries as to who is seen as relevant within fashion imagery.
The publication centres on two older models, Jaka and Felly, as primary subjects in its representation of ageing.
