Rania Averina Setiadi
About
Rania Averina Setiadi is an Indonesian graphic designer and illustrator currently based in Singapore. Driven by a lifelong passion for illustration and visual storytelling, she approaches design as a way to communicate emotion, personality, and ideas through thoughtful and engaging imagery. Growing up, she always loved drawing, watching movies, and reading comics, which became some of her earliest creative influences and shaped her interest in visual storytelling. Her creative practice combines illustration and graphic design, allowing her to explore both expressive artistic work and structured visual communication.
One of Rania’s key projects explores bakmi, a Chinese Indonesian dish, with personal memories attached. Growing up, bakmi was something her family would often share together, making it closely tied to feelings of comfort, familiarity and home. These experiences became the main inspiration behind her graduation project, where she uses illustration as a way to illustrate the nostalgic memories associated with the dish.
Rania also gained industry experience through an internship at Metro Singapore, where she designed eDMs and created illustrations according to brand guidelines. The experience strengthened her ability to balance creativity with professional design practices. Looking ahead, Rania hopes to pursue illustration, explore creative work, and grow as an artist through new experiences.
Bowls of Memories
This project is a personal exploration of the nostalgia carried within a single bowl of bakmi. It investigates how a simple meal acts as a sensory vessel, capable of reviving sights, sounds, and emotions of the designer's past. Through a blend of illustration and storytelling, Rania aims to capture the profound sense of comfort and home tied to these noodles, preserving not just the culinary traditions but the enduring warmth of the moments shared around them.
