Inside Sarah is an artist and a designer.
The artist is evoked through techniques and processes; she is creative and expressive. The designer finds solutions from understanding human behaviour; she is intentional and considerate.
Rooted in the arts, Sarah's exploration in spatial design challenges the artist and designer to permeate, thus producing the unconventional.
She intends to pursue the possibilities of this relationship in her design journey.
Sutured Nodes
Sutured Nodes explores the reintegration of ex-inmates back into society through synchronising with the daily habitual routines of the working class in the Central Business District.
Circulatory routes, shared spaces and programmes work in tandem to create moments of encounters between the ex-inmate and the public, dissolving the invisible ink of stigma. It is through these encounters where the ex-inmates become indistinguishable—unified with society as a whole.
Morning fuel I : Coffee spots naturally have high human traffic, making them optimal for encounters.
Rebuild: A space where both ex-inmate and office worker can build themselves up physically and emotionally, rebuilding confidence.
Morning fuel II : Coffee spots play a big part in the routines of office workers, but also provides ex-inmates with employment opportunities.
Parallels: Ex-inmates turn into professionals by providing documenting services for the office workers. But it is through the shared common working area where the encounter between the two lingers.
Morning sustenance: This split level coffee spot extends to the lower floor to increase areas with high human traffic.
