About

Tanya has a growing interest in creating meaningful, supportive experiences through everyday objects.

Living independently has shaped how she sees design, not just as something functional, but as something that can quietly support people through both physical and emotional challenges.

Her final-year project WOVN was inspired by observing the daily routines of individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. It looks at how design can encourage ongoing muscle engagement in a way that feels natural and integrated into daily life, rather than forced or clinical.

This notion that even the smallest interventions can make a meaningful difference is reflected in Tanya's work. She aims to design with sensitivity, creating outcomes that not only function effectively, but also support independence and confidence in a quiet, considered way.

Wovn

WOVN is a resistance-band-based therapy tool designed to support lower-body mobility for individuals with Parkinson’s disease.

Developed through research into gait impairment, balance issues and the need for safe independent exercise, the project addresses the lack of accessible home-based rehabilitation solutions.

WOVN enables users to perform controlled seated and supported standing exercises using adjustable resistance bands and a stable base, promoting strength, stability and confidence.

Designed to be intuitive and non-clinical, the system supports daily use within home environments, allowing individuals to maintain mobility and independence while reducing the risk of falls.
