About
Hayoung is a graduate from the BA (Hons) in Product Design at LASALLE College of the Arts with a strong interest in human-centred design and contemporary product development.
Her work explores the balance between functionality, aesthetics and user experience, with a focus on creating thoughtful and practical solutions for everyday life. She is particularly interested in consumer electronics and interactive products, where design can shape intuitive and engaging user experiences. Approaching design with curiosity and adaptability, she experiments with different ideas, materials and forms to refine her outcomes throughout her projects.
Hayoung values a process-driven approach, emphasising research, ideation and iterative prototyping. She aims to develop designs that are not only visually appealing but also purposeful and relevant in real-world contexts. As an emerging designer, she is motivated to continuously learn and grow, while contributing to innovative and meaningful product experiences.
MOVA
This project is an interactive rehabilitation gaming console designed to enhance hand motor function through engaging, game-based activities. It is targeted at elderly users and individuals with reduced hand strength, transforming repetitive therapy into a more enjoyable and motivating experience.
The device features an ergonomic form with multiple buttons that provide varying levels of resistance, guiding users through pressing actions that help build finger strength and coordination. Inspired by the simplicity of casual puzzle games, the console connects to the MOVA app, where users can access a range of exercise-based game categories. Each category is designed to target different areas of the hand, supporting more comprehensive motor skill development.
By combining physical exercise with playful interaction, the project promotes rehabilitation while encouraging independence, consistency and a more engaging user experience.
The following images document the design and development process of the product, from initial concept exploration to prototyping and final refinement.
