Dylan Chia Hao
About
Dylan is a 22-year-old illustrator, graphic designer and entrepreneur currently pursuing a Diploma in Design for Communication and Experiences at LASALLE College of the Arts.
During his first year at LASALLE, he founded DCHTOONS, a sticker business that has grown from a side hustle into a retail presence across Singapore.
Before carving his path in the creative industry, Dylan was a national Taekwondo athlete who represented Singapore at two Southeast Asian Games. At 21, he made the deliberate choice to step away from the sport to dedicate himself fully to his design studies and growing business, bringing with him the same discipline and grit that defined his athletic career.
His creative journey began during his time as a sports science student, where freelance graphic design work sparked a deeper passion, leading him to switch disciplines and enrol at LASALLE to pursue a career in creativity and entrepreneurship.
Mai Paiseh, which means 'don’t be shy' in Hokkien, encourages people to feel comfortable with expressing their emotions.
In many Asian cultures, care is shown through actions rather than words, while emotional openness is often avoided to preserve harmony. Mai Paiseh works within these norms, reframing emotional hesitation as a shared, culturally learned awkwardness.
By centring the familiar 'paiseh piece' at a dining table, the game gently opens up space for unspoken affirmation without rejecting cultural values.
Mai Paiseh aims to be the go-to card game for family gatherings, offering a fun, lighthearted experience that gently heals emotional wounds from unspoken feelings.
Dylan designed a sticker sheet that celebrates Singapore's local culture through the lens of Takashimaya's shopping experience, featuring their iconic shopping bag.
These sticker sheets were gifted as a premiums at Takashimaya's SG60 Prestige Cardholder Event, where he was invited to set up a booth to showcase the collaboration and sell his merchandise.
With much of today's coffee merchandise centred around Western café culture, Dylan wanted to put kopi in the spotlight.
Through a licensing collaboration with OVER, a Malaysian sports and lifestyle brand, a 'Kopi is life' sticker design came to life as a limited-edition brew cup.
Working closely with the team across product design, packaging and social media, the collaboration successfully sold out all 250 units in just over two months.
