Impulse Archive aims to slow impulsive purchasing moments in pop-up retail and encourage responsible consumption among Singaporean young adults.
The project stemmed from the ever-growing culture of pop-up retail and impulse buying among Singaporean young adults, and how consumers are unaware of the ephemeral retail environment's ability to shape their decision-making.
While the purchasing moment is almost as fleeting as its environment, the materials purchased and possessed will live on for years. Something overlooked is also how the onus is on consumers to push sustainable agenda through their choices.
We Walk Where We Wanna is a collection that documents and celebrates desire paths, exploring the unofficial shortcuts people create when the ‘official’ route just doesn’t cut it.
Desire paths through the city are explored through photography and videography, giving the visuals an introspective quality through the use of a green wash gradient. The paths are traced with a simple red line, while key moments—such as their starting and ending points, or interactions with pedestrians—are highlighted using boxed frames.
Working with teammates Shazlyn and Mia, Visual Noise is a series of experimental visual designs created with different media to transform sensor data into vibrant displays of colours and shapes.
Each medium highlights a distinct interpretation, where Arduino captures bodily rhythms, P5.js maps dynamic generative patterns and TouchDesigner adds an immersive and interactive layer.
Colours and shapes are thoughtfully assigned to represent each person, producing a mesmerising fusion of technology and personal expression, inviting viewers to witness the unique rhythms of human experience.
'Sensor DJ' -–Arduino, p5.js
A mini DJ kit designed to embody a sense of hyperactive energy. As the knobs are adjusted, the connected screen responds with vibrant visual displays, dynamically changing in colour and scale. The controls specifically manipulate randomised colours and sizes, creating an energetic and unpredictable visual experience.
