About
Yupeng is a creative and passionate BA (Hons) Interior Design graduate from LASALLE College of the Arts, University of the Arts Singapore.
Skilled in working independently and collaboratively, Yupeng thrives under pressure and is always eager to learn.
With a strong focus on sustainable and biophilic design, he integrates greenery and eco-friendly strategies into architectural and interior design, aiming to create harmonious and environmentally responsible spaces.
This project counters fast fashion by transforming student hostels into 'Sharing Fashion Hubs' using Metabolist 'plug-in' modules.
The design integrates a 'Fashion Living Room' for garment upcycling with essential community functions like shared kitchens and study pods.
By merging circular economy principles with daily student life, these modules optimise space and extend garment lifespans, fostering a sustainable, collaborative living environment.
The original design of Raffles Hall follows the modernist Le Corbusier ideal: a fixed machine with a specific programme. However, the machine has broken down because it cannot accommodate the overflow of modern life.
Adaptive Survival: To truly preserve Raffles Hall, residents must allow it to grow. The Sharing Wardrobe Hub is the evolutionary leap—a new limb that allows the building to process textile waste and social interaction.
The Metabolic Clog: Without this evolution, the corridors remain clogged with laundry, and the rooms remain asphyxiated by storage. The building becomes a relic rather than a residence. Evolution via the plug-ins is the only way to maintain the living heritage of the site.
