About
Jialing is a spatial design student focused on transforming concepts into engaging environments.
Her work explores the relationship between people and space, balancing function and atmosphere through materials, light and structure. She develops ideas through both physical models and digital tools like AutoCAD and SketchUp, with a strong interest in interactive spaces that attract and engage younger users.
Jialing is skilled in space planning, 3D modelling and visual presentation, with experience in developing detailed drawings and design concepts. She is passionate about exploring innovative spatial solutions and continuously seeks to refine her design thinking through experimentation and collaboration.
This project explores the integration of skateboarding, rock climbing and social interaction within a multi-level spatial environment. The design is driven by a concave–convex concept inspired by the dynamic movements of both sports, creating a continuous and engaging spatial experience.
The ground level introduces a skateboarding zone for beginners and recreational users, promoting accessibility and visibility. Upper levels accommodate rock climbing facilities, including bouldering and vertical climbing walls, catering to users of different skill levels.
A rooftop barbecue terrace is designed as a social platform, encouraging relaxation, gathering and interaction among users. This space extends the concept of “play” beyond physical activity into social and lifestyle experiences.
Overall, the project aims to revitalise the Jalan Besar area by attracting young people and creating a vibrant environment that integrates sports, leisure and community engagement.
These renderings highlight the integration of active and social spaces.
The skateboarding area serves as a dynamic core, featuring concave–convex surfaces that encourage movement. From this space, users can visually connect to the top rope climbing wall, enhancing spatial continuity.
A terrace rest area is introduced as a social platform for relaxation, barbecue and gatherings, extending the concept of “play” into social interactions and creating a vibrant multi-functional environment.
