Documenting Singapore’s Underground DIY Live Venues
More Than A Venue is a documentary series following Del of Our Stray Liberties and ROOM526 as he navigates the ongoing pressure of keeping a DIY live venue running in Singapore.
Through interview and observational moments, the film reveals the hidden labour and emotional weight behind sustaining a space that functions as community infrastructure. It reframes the venue as something collectively upheld, prompting newer gig-goers to understand what these rooms enable—and what is lost when they disappear.
This dual publication documents Singapore’s underground music scene through history, memory and personal storytelling.
Built Below The Surface looks into the lore and history of the scene, while paying tribute to Spectrum by Phil Studio and its role as an important independent space.
The Collective Voices brings together first-person stories from the community, capturing meaningful gig memories and everyday moments.
Together, both publications highlight DIY venues as cultural spaces worth remembering, preserving and recognising.
This project presents a selection of Lourenz' photography work from Osaka, Japan, focusing on live music, performance and the atmosphere surrounding the local scene. As a concert photographer, the series reflects his interest in capturing movement, emotion and fleeting moments within unfamiliar cultural and musical spaces.
