May Thu Soe (Isabel)
About
Isabel is an adaptable and outgoing graduate from LASALLE College of the Arts, where she completed both her diploma and bachelor’s degree in interior design.
Despite challenges along the way, she continuously pushes herself to approach situations from fresh perspectives. She enjoys exploring and experimenting with new ideas, always striving to grow both creatively and personally.
Isabel views design as a spatial discipline grounded in observation, culture and the human form. With a deep curiosity about how architecture can move beyond visual appearance, she explores how space engages with daily rituals, movement and sensory experiences.
Her work investigates how spaces are occupied over time, how individuals gather, linger, adapt and derive meaning through use. Through this approach, she aims to create environments that are not only practical, but also adaptable and closely connected to the lived experiences of those who inhabit them.
Thitsar Centre (သစ္စာ) is a cultural marketplace that reimagines Peninsula Plaza as a space to revive Burmese identity.
The project transforms the existing retail model into a produce-based, breathable market integrated with dance studios, event space and everyday social rituals.
Through tiered roof forms, porous spaces and climate-responsive design, it creates a living environment where culture is not only preserved but actively practised and shared.
